Whilst driving on the motorway my battery charging warning light came on the dash, it went off a few miles later. It then came on and off over the next 70 miles or so. I returned to my car a couple of days later and the battery was flat. Does anyone have any ideas on whether this I require a new battery or could the problem be worse? Any responses would be appreciated.

Sounds like alternator fault ,would be advisable to get output tested .Simple test with meter .

Forgot to mention , battery will be flat and need charged if alternator has not been functioning properly . Most fast fit centres and good accesserory shops will usually carry out test foc.

Cheers. I got the alternator tested, it's fine. Apparently I have an electrical fault which is causing the battery not charging. Any ideas if there is a common fault on this car or whether it could be something to do with the fact my front left indicator has a defective bulb holder? I swapped the holders and the one from the right worked? Cheers
