Power stearing stopped working

2003 Peugeot 307 1.6 petrol estate

driving along and suddenly the stearing went solid,,its now like driving a bus,,it still drives but nearly impossible to turn corners,,be grateful for any help..xxx

does it have an eps light on dash when starting engine(electric power steering) if so get codes read if nor start with checking aux belts intact and fluid level correct
