take into a garage and get them to read the ecu that will give you an idea of problem and cost

Hi,
environmental warning light is probably the engine management (ECU) warning light which indicates that there is a fault condition coming from one of the many sensors on modern engines. In this condition the ECU puts itself into 'limp home' mode "....to allow you to get the vehicle to your nearest dealer". This limits the speed so that minimal further damage is caused.

I'm not a mechanic so not sure what to do other than get it to a garage wher they can plug in an analyser to see what the problem is.

Not very helpful I know but I had a Saab that did this, fortunately it was under warranty so it cost nowt and they never actually told me waht the fault was.

When there is a problem with the car the ecu goes into limp home mode thats why it wont exceed 30mph...
