Stop sign and 0 rpm

2008 Peugeot 307 Manual
Car: Peugeot 307
Year: 2008
Variant: Manual
Categories: Engine & Drivetrain
I encountered a problem while I was driving, the rpm counter suddenly fluctuated and dropped to zero (the car is manual and it's taking a gear) then a STOP sign appeared. I turn the engine off and wait a little, an engine sign appears for 2 seconds then goes but then the car works ok. This problem was repeated around 5 times, the last time though it happened more frequently. Any idea what's wrong with it?

RPM signal is taken from the Crank Angle Sensor so suspect an faulty sensor.
