when I press the brake peddle I hear a loud hiss of air in the car, but the brakes work ok, what can this be?

Brakes are air/vacuum assisted by the brake servo which is probably where your fault is.
Get the servo operation checked.

Get someone to pump the pedal and look/listen for a vacume leak on the pipe work for the servo ,could be the seal has gone on the servo where the pedal is !
