2004 Peugeot 307 oil filler cap blows off

Oil filler cap blows off. Research says it could be a new engine or a blocked breather hose I'll try the breather hose first !. Problem is i have no idea what I'm looking for so any help in indentyfying the hose and the location but be greatly appreciated. The car is a Peugeot 307 2ltr diesel 90 hdi 2004
