White metal in oil

2008 Peugeot 307 1.6 hdi
Car: Peugeot 307
Year: 2008
Variant: 1.6 hdi
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Just had 80k mile service. No power, noisey. Had oil dropped and found white metal in oil.
Main bearings or turbo?
Dealer wants to fit new engine. Worth more than car.
Any suggestions.

hi was car ok before service if it was i would complain to garage in the first instance main bearings do not fail like they used to was too much oil put in engine at service if so the engine would run on this and rev out of control there are too many options but if it was running ok before it went for the service it must have been something that was done while at the garage if it comes to it a second hand engine from a low mileage car is cheaper option

Turbo doesn't have white metal bearings,
only the mains/big ends.
But that said these engines are known to suffer from oil starvation that is linked to the turbo oil feeds.
and injector seals.
Replacing the turbo involves not only that but a full engine strip down and clean.
The carbon build up inside these begs belief!!
Worst case is an engine and turbo!
