ilocked the car and went indoors a neighbour knocked to say that my windscreen wipers were going even though the car was off and locked any ideas

Only similar thing I can find is talk of a faulty comms2000 unit which controls the wipers and a few other systems.
I can't help much more as I am not familiar with the car or the fault.
Locate this comms2000 unit and when the wipers won't stop again disconnect it. And see what happens.
You could try disconnection g it anyway overnight to see if it resets itself.

I would check to make sure you don't have water ingress in the under bonnet fuse box or the bsi.If the comm unit is faulty you will find it on the steering column after the steering wheel. I hope THIS helps
