2003 Peugeot 307 display unit on dashboard problem

hi can anyone help with this problem?? on the dashboard the little screen which has clock.radio.temp...after about an hour driving the screen starts to fade and you loose the lettering and numbers on the screen its just a big blur??? went to local scrap yard i tried the one they had and it did the same could it be that both units are faulty or is there something wrong with my car??? on the display screen there is three little bulbs but one is brighter than the other....the dealers want £140 for new one but didnt want to pay out if its not going to solve it???

It does sound like a fault with the screen.What you could do is tap into the supply voltage with a multimeter to ensure your getting the correct feed of voltage when the fault occurs and same with the earth.I had a similar problem with my impreza clock,eventually it irritated me so much i paid the premium for a new one.But if you can ensure your getting the correct supply first,before condemming the unit.

Hi I TOO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM BUT I FIND THAT WHEN THE HEATING IS ON QUITE HIGH THIS SEEMS TO TRIGGER IT OR DURING THE SUMMER THE DISPLAY FADES AS WELL IM STILL LOOKING FOR A SOLUTION SO I WILL KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR ANSWERS AS WELL AND IF I FIND ANY THING OUT ILL LET YOU KNOW
