2006 Peugeot 307 new drive belt and valves but reving too high

Car: Peugeot 307
Year: 2006
Variant: 1400
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Had new drive belt after old one snapped also new valves inserted. Warning system started bringing up problems that didnt exist and now OK BUT engine reving too high even when idling at over 2000 revs. How is this cured and will it eventually correct itself as suggested by mechanic? Regards and thanks

Amazes me the standard of some garages nowadays and what customers accept . No way should that car been allowed to leave workshop with engine revving at 2000+ at idle .No doubt you paid good money for the repair , get it back to them for fixing asap .

is it a 1400 8v or 16v? could be that the timing is out!
