2005 Peugeot 307 warning light

Can anybody tell me why every now and then my engine warning light comes on and it displays DE POLLUTION FAULT. asked a local garage and they said it was because it was a diesel and as its a petrol they couldnt help

its just a generic term. Have the engine management ecu read for faults.

i have done but a auto electrician can not find a fault

It could just be a simple software fault a download may cure it
