Ignition cut out

2004 Peugeot 307 1.6 manual petrol
Car: Peugeot 307
Year: 2004
Variant: 1.6 manual petrol
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I have a problem with the car. As I slow down for a stop or a robot the engine dies, not always only sometimes. At this stage the clutch would be depressed and the car would be roling so I will engage it and the engine will turn thus it starts and carry on normally. However sometimes I am at the stop and it dies , then I have to restart. As a rule it starts immedeatly with no problem. I had the car serviced ( not the dealers) and the mechanics says it is the throttle-body that is cracked, somehow I do'nt believe this.

Please help

this could be the idle position sensor on the intake, this sensor determines when the revs drop to the the point of idle and stops them dropping any further, therefore stopping the engine from cutting out. I can't really see there being a crack in the throttle body but check anyway, it's pretty easy to do, jst remove the air pipes and sensor plugs and remove the throttle body which should be held by 4 bolts, be careful not to lose the gasket and check for cracks yourself or take it to a different garage. usually if a crack in the throttle body was the case it would allow too much air in and cause the engine to idle at higher revs.
