Smell of petrol

When I accelerate off from a junction I have a strong smell of petrol. I have checked for leaks in the tank.

possibly coming from carbon canister vent .This is located behind drivers side wheel arch liner

Another possibility is a split fuel line under the bonnet. When you accelerate hard the torque of the engine can tug on the fuel line causing the split to leak fuel. When idling with the bonnet up all seems fine. Try pulling away with the handbrake on whilst someone looks under the bonnet (from the side of the car so you don't squash them).
