1999 Peugeot 306 will not start when engine is warm

Car: Peugeot 306
Year: 1999
Variant: 1.4 lx
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi, My wife have a Peugeot 306 1.4 LX (petrol) on a "V" plate (1999). When the engine is warm it will not start. When cold or hot it is fine, but it you leave it 45 minutes from being hot it takes a good 5 minutes to start with a strong petrol smell, and then its very lumpy for a mile or 2. I took it to a local garage do charged me £100 and found nothing wrong (even though it did not start!) . Please help.

Try a new ECTS (engine coolant temp sender)
only a few quid's worth
