hi, about 6 months ago my car completely cut out while i was driving, it wouldent start again, the problem was the in-tank fuel pump, so i replaced the pump with a new one from peugeot, since then there has been a wird sound near the pump area, the fuel meter not always correct and it seems to be doing less MPG. although it had these minor thing the car was running great, until yesterday when the engine management light came on, i also noticed the the revs after the light came on are not smooth, instead of vroooooooooooom, its vrum..vrm...vrum..vruum. i dont know how else to explain it, could this be a problem with teh lambda sensor? or is it maybe the in-tank fuel pump again? any help would be much apprisiated. THANK YOU :)

by the way the revs are not restricted like the other engine management problem i read on this website for a 306 hdi. the car is running normal except sometimes accelerating doesent feel smooth, and it seems to be doing less MPG.

took it to the local mechanic/asswhole, who took £30 for 5 mins work, he just stuck the diagnostic thing on, faults came up and he reset them, he said they could be a glitch cos the light is gone now, but the faults were clutch position and throttle position sensor. i realy hope i dont see that damn light again

sorry to hear that but that is cheap and at least you now have the problems solved

actually, i am still noticing the problems, although there is no light, when accelerating its like it cuts out and comes back as i said before, where can i find these replacement items? Throttle position sensor and switch, Accelerator position sensor and switch and clutch pedal position switch. and how the hell did they all go wrong at the same time?

Whilst i don't doubt you have a throttle postion sensor problem as i have replaced a few on these models, i fear your under lying mpg and general performance is down to fuel pressure, it is not uncommon for the high pressure pumps to fail on peugeot hdi engines, check for the pressence of tiny metal particles in the bottom of the fuel filter, if they are there then i'm affraid it's around £1800 to repair it as you have to replace the whole fuel system
