2000 Peugeot 306 temperature

If not losing water and overheating , should be o.k .

No that's a good temperature. The system is pressurised which means it raiss the boiling temperature above the normal 100deg. Isn't there a red or warning marker?

if i replace the stat for a new one, would it improve the running as it will be at a normal temperature ? plus my heater will be more acceptable on winters return !:-] thanks. dave.

Honestly I think its working fine. Do a Google search for your particular cars optimum running temperature or see if a nice auto parts man will show you a new thermostat , have a look at it and it should say what the opening temperature is. Your car should get nice and snug from 70deg water, what's your thinking of it needing changed mate?

my queery of its temp is that every other diesel ive had ran hotter, within its correct range that is, the heaters were gr8 in all, so this wont be warm enuf when we return to normal weather tony ! and i just assume it would run a little better at normal temp too ! ive had 2 zx, 1 zantia, 1 clio, all same engine 2 with turbo. all middle of temp gauge ! nice n toasty :-]

If reading low , probably thermostat stuck open.
