1997 Peugeot 306 momentary power loss at 40/50/60 mph

Car: Peugeot 306
Year: 1997
Variant: 1.9 D
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi All

Need some advice if poss - for the last month or so when driving at a steady speed 40/50/60 mph the car seems to lose power momentarily ( fraction of a second) - probably occurs 3 or 4 times every mile if at a steady speed. Doesn't appear to effect acceleration.
* Sluggish to Start when Cold - but always has been - this is getting a little worse but it is getting colder as well!
* When driving to work this morning it occasionally was Kangerooing in 1st & 2nd when pulling away - hasn't done this before.
* Gears are Ok to select
* And although it always has been a little flat acceleration in general seems fine.

Other forums suggest that this could be a clutch problem!?! I can understand that this could explain the Kangerooing but would the clutch also cause momentary loss of power - as above?

Any help would be much appreciated :)

If the clutch was slipping then yes ,but the engine rev,s would rise when this happens.when did you last replace the fuel filter .and are there any fault codes logged to guide diagnostic,s
