2000 Peugeot 306 squeaking

Variant: 1.4
When i start car it has a screech, drives well. Everytime I changed gear I get a squeak. Any ideas what's wrong ?

Depends where screech is coming from , could be a belt slipping .Best to get a quick check on noise in case it develops .

I've had the same problem with a 306 and it gets worse in time it is almost deffinatly the drive Fan/drive belt. It's a fairly easy fix. on the diesel model there is a 13mm headed bolt which needs to be turned to loosen the belt and change it. some have automatic adjusters which can take the preassure off the bely using a socket with an extension bar, put this on the tensioner apply preassure and with the other hand slip the belt of one of the pullys. Then re-thread the new belt once again apply preassure and then flick the belt over the remaining pully. Good luck.
