2000 Peugeot 306 engine cuts out

Car: Peugeot 306
Year: 2000
Variant: 1.9 TD
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
engine starts ok with a puff of smoke and goes ok for a hundred yards then cuts out and you have to wind engine over a few times before it will restart, once this is done it will not cut out again until the next morning no matter how many times you use the car, this problem has just started happening. the puff of smoke has always been there due to age.

Could be you have got an air leak in the fuel system . May be the injector leak off pipes .If so need to get it checked out and replace as needed .Before you start the car you could try priming it and see if it starts o.k .Some more ideas from another forum on same fault , might help .

Peugeot 306 td 1.9 t reg with lucas pump. now the problem, I used the car for work, fine, I then went shopping, again fine. The following morning it wont start, no fuel in pipe between filter and pump. I bled the line; fine. I left car overnight and the same problem next morning, so on the advice of a friend I have changed fuel hand primer, fuel pipe from hand primer to filter, and the leak off pipes on the injectors, and the return pipe from the pump. I have also taken the whole filter assy off, cleaned and checked. Lastly I bled from pump to the injectors. at a loss to what to do next? cheers

Change the primer pump the seal's will be leaking fuel back to the tank & fit a new filter.
