2019 Nissan Qashqai thermostat housing cracking or shearing off

Thermostat housing sheared off at 70 mph with no prior warning. by the time i had stopped safely the engine was cooked and requires replacement. 19 Plate, 51K on clock, 3 months out of warranty. Searched online and seems to be common problem, so much so that Nissan have changed design 3 or 4 times. Has anyone successfully claimed from Nissan for this as part obviously not fit for purpose and isn't part of any servicing regime that i am aware off

As you say , a lot of problems with this . If you have full service record , worth a try with your dealership to take it up with Nissan but long shot if they do .

thank you for your support. Car is with them awaiting outcome of Complaint to Nissan. They have already offered me 2.4K as "Goodwill gesture" even before I complained. Car has full service history at this main dealer so that is in my favor

That's a good first step from Nissan in getting it resolved to your satisfaction . Never ran a Nissan dealership but with others that I did , there were means that I could try to sort things out with cars just out of warranty and often used to help customers .Good luck , hope all goes well .
