2012 Nissan Note fuel door will not close, looks like the catch on the inside is broken

Opened fuel door from inside as usual at petrol station. filled up, come to close the door after replacing petrol and the door will not close on the catch

Must be something in the cap release mechanism sticking / not returning to lock the cap . Get someone to operate from inside to see whats happening and try WD if sticking .Otherwise new flap / fuel filler needed
