2009 Nissan Note central locking not working on key fob

Recently just had this issue check when you take key out of ignition that steering lock engages as the ignition locks wear which causes the dust cover inside to not fall down and because it was not activating steering lock it had stopped the key fob from activating central locking not saying you have same issue but literally changed one last week took me a while to discover it was that causing the locking to not work on key fob

I never activate the steering column in any of the many cars that I've had and not once has it affected the key fob . There is no tie in with the steering lock on any cars that I know that would cause this . I would be interested to know how this would cause the fault , as would another garage owner friend who I asked if he had ever heard of this .Like me , cannot see how your theory would apply .
