2004 Nissan Micra morning engine rev

Hi Guys,
Every morning I have to Rev my engine on Nissan Micra up to 3 revs for approximately 4-5 minutes to kick it in. If I just put key in and start without the rev the engine dies then I have to wait up to 10 minutes to try again. It starts first time every time but without revving, it just dies! Please help. Just had a brand new battery put in by AA as I thought this was the issue - turns out not a battery problem at all!

You dont say what engine . Could be engine coolant temp sensor . Some models had modified piece of wiring loom also .
