1998 Nissan Micra reversing loght wont work and its not the bulb or the wiring

Car: Nissan Micra
Year: 1998
Variant: 998cc manual transnission standard
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
the reversing light doesn't work. Ive had the reversing switch out and had a look, done a continuity test, no breaks in wiring. bulbs aren't blown. but i have noticed inside the gear box that the contact for the reversing switch is rotating around its connecting shaft I am assuming this is not allowing it to make contact with the reversing switch its self. if my assumption is correct then what would be the cure. I have also noticed that the haynes manual diagnostic for a continuity test fails every time.Even with the ignition on.

if you disconnect the reverse light switch wiring plug and bridge it with a wire the reverse lights should work,if they work then you have a switch fault,if they don`t work then you have wiring fault

Could well be as you suggest if not making contact to operate switch and everything else has checked out o.k .
