Battery Drain in mornings.

Sounds like a drain, have you checked that boot or glove box lights are not staying on, is stereo fitted with amp or cd changer that are not powering off. If none of these then you need to do an amp test to see how much is being drained when stood, if excessive then pull fuses one at a time until it is acceptable, this will identify the guilty circuit.

Thanks Mr Fixit. As the base model, it has no boot or glove compartment light. No additional stereo kit. As far as I know the only thing can be central locking, immobiliser and/or clock! - would this test have to be done by an auto-electrician, or can it be self tested?

i cant see it being the immobiliser as these only drain at 0.02 volts which is nothing i would suggest a service as you have said its due one soon have this done and are you taking the car on long or short journeys because short journey could be related to the bad staring in the morning but if you have a volts meter put it on to the terminals in the morning and what readings do you get if the volts reading is below 11 volts then there is the problem the battery isnt hold charge very well but once the car is started via ajump start all is ok because the charge is being put back in to the battery hence the good readings you got when you had the battery checked at kwik fit but check the volts in the morning before starting and see what readins you get hope tis helps

Just to update this - I found a former Nissan main dealer mechanic in a work colleagues husbands garage (phew!) who took a look and did some testing measuring the ampage etc. Unable to find any problem or real cause, he switched some sort of automatic test feature to manual? - it may have been the systems auto check - I;m not 100%. It has cured the problem at any rate and cost me the price of a couple of pints.

The main dealer wanted the cost of a brewery just to look!

Hello! I think I have the same problem!!!
I have a Nissan Micra 2003 2.1V. It has only recently become a problem as I have just stopped using it everyday.

The battery is being drained over a period of about one week. Before when i was driving it during the week it was absolutely fine over weekends and things but as I am not using it so often this problem has become apparent. I have changed the battery and that had made no difference. I have also switched things off in the car such as the radio and interior light so they can't flick on somehow and there is still a problem! All it needs is a jump start to get going and it is absolutely fine! I really love car!

I have also had a auto-electrician come to look at it who couldnt find a drain from the battery (testing it with an ammeter) so it seems that something is kicking in when it is off and draining the battery!?

Do you have any idea how I could fix this? I am being quoted so much money which i can't afford! I know you are lucky enough to know someone but any more info would be very much appreciated! I know its a long shot! Thanks you!
