2006 Nissan Micra parking sensor

When reversing, the parking sensor is continually on, even when I am no way near another vehicle. Is this a fault or can I switch it off from within the car. If it is a fault, how can I permanently disable it, since I don't think it is needed.

Dont see a separate fuse for that sensor , usually hooked up through the reverse light switch / circuit
