Boot not opening fully

When I press the convertible open button it only opens enough that all the roof goes into the boot but then the bonnet doesn’t close

Most convertible roofs are controlled by micro switches and as the car gets older they often fail and it takes scanning to locate the fault . You could check the parcel shelf has been refitted correctly as there is a micro switch there , and if not , it affects operation .
