Let it cool down a bit and open coolant tank cap and see if water level drops / disappears in tank .Check cap is not leaking and radiator fan is kicking in .

hello thanks for your reply.when you say tank cap is that the one on the actual radiator or the filler vessel

Top up radiator at cap and then top overflow / expansion tank to correct level .
