Engine stalling when slowing to a stop

the engine cuts out when coming to a stop eg. when stopping at a junction, its been doing this for a while now, when i tried to start it this morning it just wouldnt start at all. do you have any ideas what the problem could be. ive checked the oil ect and everything seems fine.

hi i had the same problem about 8 years ago with a similar car and it turned out to be one of the sensors had worn away inside the engine mine was like using the hoover then someone pulling the plug to find out if this is the issue a diagnostic test is your best bet any half decent garage will do this for about £45 and they will check the whole system if this is the case a sensor cost about £3.50 ish but it becomes expensive with the labour of taking the engine apart think i paid about £230 mostly labour
