2001 Nissan Almera revs holding to long

anyone had the same problem almera 2001 1.5 SE manual,
seems to hold revs at junctions to long, and when travely down the road then put foot on clutch and leave car in gear the revs go upto 2000rpm and stays until you take it out of gear,changed the o2 sensor and the speedo pinion and there are no fault codes, but when i disconnect the speedo pinion it is fine but have no speedo.
anyone help!!!!!

Check / clean idle control valve and throttle body .

i have done all that i was wondering if there was a switch somewhere i have missed???
