2002 Nissan Almera exhaust smoke & power loss

Car: Nissan Almera
Year: 2002
Variant: 1.8 Sport
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
The car was filled with 5w40 fully synthetic oil in error, i can't find this in the manual, it was also burning oil within days (sometimes the next day) i would have to fill it again, i had the rockercover gasket done 2 weeks ago when the car was MOT'd but since friday the car has been occasionally throwing out black smoke from the exhaust and losing power intermittently, i filled the oil yesterday with 10w40 oil as instructed in the manual but this is still happening, any ideas?
