2003 Nissan Almera engine slowing down and stopping

My Nissan Almera Tino will drive perfectly sometime and other times it stutters as though it's not getting fuel, or it will slow down and sometimes just stop altogether. I've changed the points etc but it has made no difference. Has anybody else had this problem and if so how did you cure it?

What engine ? Checked the plugs ? Probably a coil pack breaking down under load .Your car has points ??????
