Mitsubishi L200 engine management light comes on goes into limp mode and dies. starts ok when cold

Engine light comes on. Limp mode. Drives a short distance then dies. Starts ok when cooled off. New engine from Mitsubishi about 11000 miles ago. Now out of warranty.
Live in a remote setting would like to repair it myself if possible. Have mechanical experience.

Would save your self a lot of time and money by scanning for stored fault codes rather than guessing of possible causes .

You could try replacing fuel filter which is a routine service item anyway . Wouldn't go wrong in any case , often curing similar faults , before getting too involved .
