2005 Mitsubishi L200 engine and thick smoke

Recently brought a mitsbushi animal was told told the boost control valve needs replacing but on driving it home I'd noticed thick black smoke coming from it every time I'd put acceleration on and thenthe engine management light come on and kept loosing power is this due to the sensor or is it head gasket or something more? Also iv noticed its got a bad oil leak.
