2004 Mitsubishi L200 running rough hard to start smokey and power loss

I was driving my l200 (old model) the other day and all of a sudden the power cut away back and it became quite smokey i drove on and the power came back then left again this carried on til i got home when i tried to investigate it was ticking over she was very rough the rpm hand was jumpy then i stopped her and started again it took ages the starter turned and turned but took atleast a minute to start what is my problem?

I'd start by checking the injectors.
