2003 Mitsubishi L200 annoying squeaks and rattling

Car: Mitsubishi L200
Year: 2003
Variant: Warrior 2.5 TD
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi There I have recenly purchased my truck all is fine apart from a couple of niggling things so any help would be great! Firstly when i turn the ignition off and the engine comes to a stop (if that makes sense)i get a really annoying squeak as if something is rubbing (metal to metal sound) or something is possibly loose, also i can slightly hear the the squeak when i'm driving but only when i'm bumpy ground. Strangely it isn't as noticeable when the engine is cold only after full temp is reached.

Also when i reverse i can hear a bit of a squeak and rattle it, someone told me it is possibly the "reverse gear idler" rattling and that it isn't serious just annoying. Can this be resolved and could both problems be related.
Many thanks for you time.

Check exhaust heat shields for rattle / squeak .

May well be repairable if that is the fault , sometimes just a spot weld that has broken away .

Good morning

I looked under my truck yesterday and the heat shield seemed pretty much secure, i made sure the engine temp was up before i checked.. Anymore ideas ;-)

Your help is much appreciated.

Dean.

There's a small bracket at the rear of the gearbox that's prone to break and can give annoying noise also check all your exhaust hanger brackets.
