2002 Mitsubishi L200 car keeps reving

this problem started last week out of the blue, when you start the car and it's in manual it just keeps on reving up down up down up down and so on.. even when you are driving it keeps doing that. In manual it goes from 600 to 1500 rpm on and on. what could it be?
