2000 Mitsubishi L200 low power, black smoke when warm

Hi All.
My L200 has a crazy fault can you help???
when its cold my L200 runs like a dream no smoke with lots of power. just driven 30 miles on the M6 at a steady 65mph no probs.
it's when i got off the M6 then my L200 had lost its power and black smoke???
got home and left it for a couple of hours and tried again around the block and guess what!! power had returned and no black smoke??
ANY IDEAS

Not sure if your model year has an e.g.r valve,but if it does possibly sticking when hot,Best to get codes read.To point you in a direction.
