2002 MG ZR engine wont restart

Variant: 1.4 manual petrol

i replaced engine and it was running fine but negative battery wire broke so i rubbed wire on body to get a connection so the engine would restart which worked now it has cut out and wont restart i had engine running for quite a while as put new radiator on and was inprocess of seeing if things were fine could the lack of secure earth trigger the petrol cut off switch help solutions will be of greate help

the broken earth wire would`nt trigger the inertia switch,this is only triggered if the car comes to a sudden stop ie if you hit another object,if the switch does activate then push the button down to reset.have you repaired the broken earth wire?are you getting fuel and spark?
