2002 MG ZR engine wont start

replaced engine and had it running but negative battery wire broke so i rubbed wire on body to get a connection so car would restart which worked then car cut out now wont start also car is on ramps so could this confuse mercury switch in factory fitted security system f it has one any solutions will be of great help

it does`nt have mercury switch in ecu,have you actually repaired the earth connection so it has good contact?how long did engine run for when you started it,did it run for a few seconds then cut out or did you have it running longer?

car was running for quite awhile as put new rad on to i am not sure if it could be petrol cut off switch cause of lack of secure earth?
