2001 MG ZR zr won't start after battery went flat.

Variant: 1.4 petrol

AFter charging the battery the ZR would not start again.
It sparks OK, but will not power up the fuel pump, so I manually powered the fuel pump and pressurised the fuel rail, still no joy. The plugs appear dry as if the injectors are not opening.
I have reset the immobiliser using the Factory code from the Handbook but still no joy.
Anybody got any suggestions what to try next?
