2004 MG ZR car wont start and engine manigment light on

Wonder if anyone can help me, I got in my car today and turned key if fired for about 5 seconds then stopped firing and the orange manigment light came on, the car wont start now it turns over but doesnt start, any ideas??

You really need to get it on the diagnostic machine to bring up a fault code.

have now found out the light stays on till the engine is running. The cam belt is still intact but the compressions are very low the highest 1 is 100 but the lowest 1 is only 35, have been told the cambelt has slipped and needs replacing about £600. does this seem right please?
