2002 MG ZR keeps cutting out whilst driving

Car: MG ZR
Year: 2002
Variant: 1.4
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
We have had this car for aover two years now. First time we had a problem with it. Started around five weeks when I went to drive it, it turned over but wouldn't start. After a while it started. Ok for a few days and then it wouldn't start again. Had to call RAC out who had a look and explained could be crank shaft sensor not working. Had this replaced then after a few days I was driving it and it just cut out whilst driving - very scary experience. Sinse then been back to the garage who really do not know what to do with it. It seems ok for about 50 miles and then just stops. It broke down four times the other day as we tried to get it to the garage again! Any help would be good as it is pointless having a car you are to scared to drive.

all i can suggest is remove spark plugs and clean them up or even replace then go on to the fuel filter which will require replacing but the main item i would suspect is the mass air flow sensor at fault and also replace the air filter
