non cancelling indicator

1972 MG MGB roadster

Whilst the indicator switch for turning right will cancel after centring the left one wont.

I have looked at the indicator switch but can't see any obvious problem.

Any ideas please?

This post brought back memories as I served my apprenticeship working on those cars and then ended up running the MG/Morris/ Austin dealership many years ago ..This explains possible causes , hope it helps .

Thanks for the response. When I stripped it down I saw the cam was on a collar and I was beginning to suspect it had moved.

Looking at the helpful article you referred to, it mentions centralising the cam. Should this be on the switch side or the opposite one?

Glad to help .If you look at the exploded illustration and note no 17 , it refers to centralising trip . If that is the same as on your car , it goes central to the switch .Some older cars had a different , adjustable pin that was at the 12 o'clock position but the arm was a different setup .
