Dashboard showing the yellow engine warning light which has appeared in the last 24 hours. Have only been driving short distances in and around my local area around 3 to 4 times a week. It's due a service and may be down to low level of oil I have read, though no oil warning light has ever come on. Car still drives normally the same way before the engine warning light came on and there is no noticeable loss of power.

Dont wait for any oil light to come on and tell you it needs topped up or changed , could be too late and serious if you do so . Short , stop / start journeys can play havoc with any car and often the cause of many problems . A good blast to clear the cobwebs often works wonders but with warning light on your car , best to get it in asap for checking / servicing

Good decision , never a good idea to ignore any warning lights . Hopefully it will only be a minor item that has triggered the light and will be cleared by the service ,
