Jaguar XJ slow in shifting 2 to 1 at junctions

I feel my gearbox has an issue shifting 2 to 1 when slowing down at a junction, if I don’t come to a halt and touch the throttle I get heavy thump as I think the box moves into 1st… if I come to a stop and then pull away no issue…the oil and filter were done 20k ago..,

You could either get ATF and filter changed again and hope that cures it or , if not , get it scanned with suitable equipment to see if any fault codes present
