2000 Jaguar S-Type gearbox fault when on motorway

I have 2000 Jaguar S-type (3 litre auto), it is a lovely car, mostly I drive in a city and I have no problems at all. But when it comes to driving long distances with speed 50-100mph after about 50-100 miles gearbox fault comes up on a dashboard. It doesnt come up when I'm on the same speed, but when I'm braking and accelerating (changing gears), and since the light came up the car is not changing gears smoothly. It never happened to me in the city, only when I'm on motorway. My Jaguar also had bursted radiator hose. Does it have anything to do with dampness? Or is it wind pressure when on higher speeds? Please help! Car diagnostics shows no problems. Thank You!

could be damp as you have said but wouldnt have really thought it would be that as you would have this problem just about all the time on rainy days and winter periods ie wet roads so would suggest you get a second opinion on the diagnostics

s type jag auto gearbox, is built by sonnax,(google it) theses suffer with a small spring, snapping into 3 bits, that alters the oil pressure in the gearbox, the spring costs 15.00 from sonnax, and if you can pull the sump off the gearbox, and strip the pressure plate yourself is a cheep fix. we can do them in about 3 hours, so a garage cost should only ever be about £250.00 tops, we do theses often as our local jag dealer, always tell the owner off the car it requires a gearbox??? (main dealers for you) but if you know a g arage you can trust take it there, it is honestly a easy job.

coolant hose side off things, the one on the front off hte engine blow often, can only get new ones from main dealer and cost just under £70.00.
