Boot catch warning says its open when it's not

2007 Ford S-Max 2.0 titanium petrol
Car: Ford S-Max
Year: 2007
Variant: 2.0 titanium petrol
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
My smax is displaying a warning signal about the boot being open even when it isn't. Driving along the road it keeps doing this and the warning signal beeps annoyingly. Plus the internal lights keep coming on because they must think the boot is open. When you try and open the boot it seems to open slowly with the latch and solenoid (I think) opening in two stages and the rear lights in the boot lid flash. Therefore I think there might be a short somewhere? Has anyone experienced anything similar?

You could be right about a short somewhere. Check wiring and earths first. If all ok then possible solenoid/latch problem

Check wiring at top where it passes into boot / tailgate or maybe faulty sensor on lock .
