hi,

have a ford s-max TDCI Titanium 08 plate. in mornings can't put it in to reverse gear until moved an inch with first gear, but all fine for the rest of the day. Also first and second gears became quite stif while changing in between them. any clues what could be wrong with it?

Hi, I know ford have had problems with their dual mass clutch which i think may be fitted to your car. So it could be a clutch problem rather than a gearbox or selector problem. I guess your going to have to get it diagnosed by a good independant garage/dealer.
Sorry if its not much help.

Try getting the gearbox oil changed first,

When the oil is cold it's thicker, especially at this time of year, so gears are more difficult to syncromesh.

Its worth a try and won't cost you the earth!
