Clutch depressed but engine briefly continues to rev

2000 Ford KA
Car: Ford KA
Year: 2000
Categories: Gearbox & Clutch
When I depress the clutch and take my foot off the accelerator the engine continues to rev for a few seconds before it dies down. I end up in stationary traffic with the car revving away like a boyracer. I have checked the accelerator cable for any signs of 'stickiness' but none obvious. I dont think its the clutch either as no signs of slippage?? Any ideas?
Thanks,

sounds like you have a sticking stepper motor this is located in the carb and you will require a new one from the dealer and would reccommend that you get a garage to replace it for you unless you are mechanically minded hope this helps you out
